Character Counts
At Heritage Elementary, we believe deeply that an education of the whole child includes the development of character. We support our parents by reinforcing, through our character lessons, the values they teach at home.
We focus on values that we feel are essential to a well-rounded person. Each month, we read and discuss stories that portray these positive moral values in a thoughtful manner. We tailor the message to match the understanding of students at each grade level and explore common topics using age-appropriate books and activities.
These are the themes we present throughout the year:
- Friendship and Tolerance
- Integrity and Loyalty
- Industriousness and Intentness
- Cooperation and Team Spirit
- Enthusiasm and Alertness
- Responsibility and Initiative
- Self-Control
- Condition and Skill
- Confidence and Poise
