Enrollment Lottery

LOTTERY APPLICATION

As a part of the California public school system, Heritage Elementary is excited to open its doors to all interested students. It is our goal to provide each parent with educational choice. With interest in Heritage Elementary at an all-time high, our school is currently receiving more requests for enrollment than we can accept. To ensure fairness in our selection process, Heritage Elementary follows state and local guidelines, which require us to hold a lottery whenever the number of applicants we receive exceeds our capacity. Applicants will be selected solely on the basis of the lottery results, in accordance with established priorities.

Students who live within the Escondido Union School District boundaries will be given priority in the lottery. At the time you apply, you will be required to submit two forms of proof of residence, so we can determine whether or not you will be given priority status. In California, all kindergarten applicants for the 2019-20 school year must have turned five years old by September 1, 2019. An original birth certificate must be turned in with the lottery application. 

To apply for the lottery, please click on the “Lottery Application” button at the top of the page and fill out the online application. Once the online application is completed, please submit your proof of residence documents (and an original birth certificate for those applying for kindergarten)  to the Enrollment Coordinator, Leanne Megna, at the  Heritage Elementary main office, located at 1855 East Valley Parkway, Escondido, CA 92027. 

  • The lottery application period opens on Tuesday, October 9, 2018.
  • The lottery application period closes on Friday, February 8, 2019 at 3:30 PM.

The lottery will be held during the Heritage K-8 Charter School Board meeting on Wednesday, February 27, 2019, in the Multi-Purpose Room on the Heritage Elementary Campus, located at 1855 East Valley Parkway, Escondido, CA 92027. You do not need to be present to participate. You will be notified of the lottery results by mail following the meeting.

If your student does not receive a low-enough lottery number to be admitted to the school at this time, his/her name will be placed on a wait list (in the order in which his/her name was drawn). That wait list will be used to fill any vacancies that may occur during the school year.
